Art

What make’s art, art? Creativity can be found in anyone, but by varying degrees, what needs to be produced? If you look around there is pretty much art everywhere, I look around right now and see red walls, wooden tables, black chairs. Lets take the chairs for this example, black, why black? Maybe because they don’t look as dirty when they are? That is the only functional purpose I see, color coordinating falls under “Art” A more useful chair would be something brownish with a random stain pattern, it would be pretty much impossible to tell if it were dirty or not.

So now we know art is in pretty much everything, now lets see how important that is, id say the value of artistic choice on the walls being the shade of red they are has a higher artistic value based on thought and time put into it, it was also chosen to visually attract others. It is of a Higher artistic value than the chair, but way lower than the painting that hangs on it.

The Painting is rich with colors, it portrays an image, it has a specific order, and conveys a specific image or message. We could have abstract art up, but here is where my point is made. How can we ever value abstract art at a higher level than contemporary art? A jumble of splatter patterns random colors, these are often associated with Emotion, a bullshit Idea. Anything that anyone can reproduce loses its value.

These may even be pretty complex designs, Math can produce many fractal designs which are appealing to the eye, but in terms of artistic value they are still below the painting.

Photography follows the same rules, the work that goes behind a shot is what often makes it a good photograph, sure you can sometimes get lucky a fluke a nice shot, but most photographs are taken because of what the photographer saw there, they saw something a regular person hasn’t. Finding Beauty where it isn’t often found, stopping to smell the roses. This is art, this has meaning.
